When contacting us
When you contact us, for example by e-mail, telephone or via a contact form, we process the data you provide to us.
When using our website
Depending on the settings of our webshop, we may process technical data, such as:
· IP address;
· information about the device you use to visit our website;
· browser and operating system data;
· information about your use of our website;
· cookie and similar identifiers.
Exactly which data is processed for this depends in part on the cookies, apps and other services that we use within Shopify.
What do we use your personal data for?
We only use your personal data to the extent that there is a legal basis for doing so.
a. Fulfilling your order
We use your personal data to:
· process your order;
· perform the agreement with you;
· deliver your order;
· process payments;
· send you information about your order;
· handle returns, refunds, and complaints.
The legal basis for this is the performance of the agreement.
b. Customer service and contact
When you contact us, we use the data provided to answer your question, request or complaint.
The legal basis for this depends on the situation:
· the performance of the agreement;
· complying with a legal obligation; or
· our legitimate interest in answering customer questions and organizing our services.
c. Administration and legal obligations
We process personal data for our administration, including our financial administration and compliance with legal, tax and administrative obligations. The legal basis for this is compliance with a legal obligation.
d. Fraud and Security
We may process personal data to prevent fraud, abuse and other unlawful activities and to secure our webshop and systems.
The legal basis for this is our legitimate interest in securing our company, webshop, systems and customers.
e. Newsletter and offers
If you have subscribed to this, we may send you newsletters, offers and other commercial communications by e-mail. If permission is required, we will only do so after you have given permission. You can unsubscribe at any time via the unsubscribe link in the newsletter or by contacting us.
To the extent that we use your existing customer relationship to send you information about similar products or services, we will only do so to the extent permitted by law. Every commercial e-mail contains a simple option to unsubscribe from this.
f. Analysis and improvement of our webshop
We can use data to gain insight into the use of our webshop and to improve its operation, security and user-friendliness. Insofar as non-necessary cookies or similar techniques are used for this purpose, we will ask for prior consent if this is required by law.
On what grounds do we process personal data?
The GDPR has various legal bases. We process personal data on the basis of one or more of the following principles:
1. Performance of a contract – for example, to process and deliver an order.
2. Legal obligation – e.g. for our administration and tax obligations.
3. Legitimate interest – for example, for security, fraud prevention, customer service and to improve our services, insofar as our interests do not outweigh your privacy interests.
4. Consent – for example, when consent is required for certain marketing activities or non-necessary cookies.
When we rely on consent, you can withdraw this consent at any time. The withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of the processing before the moment of withdrawal.
With whom do we share your personal data?
We do not sell your personal data. We may share your personal data with parties that are necessary for the performance of our services. You can think of Shopify, because our webshop is technically offered via Shopify.
Shopify processes personal data in connection with the provision of the Shopify platform. For certain processing, Shopify acts as a processor on our behalf. For other, specifically defined services, Shopify itself may act as a data controller.
Shopify and we each have our own responsibilities under applicable privacy laws. More information about Shopify's processing of personal data can be found in Shopify's privacy policy.
Payment service providers
We may use external payment service providers such as Ideal/Wero, Mastercard to process payments.
These parties receive the data necessary to make the payment and prevent fraud.
Delivery services
In order to deliver your order, we provide necessary data to the carrier engaged by us, for example:
· name;
· delivery address;
· telephone number and/or e-mail address, if necessary for delivery.
The carrier in question uses this data for the execution of the delivery and any delivery communication.
Accounting and administration
If we use a bookkeeper, accountant or administration office for our administration, personal data may be provided to this party insofar as this is necessary for the performance of the work in question.
Other service providers
In addition, we may use other service providers, for example for hosting, e-mail, customer service, security, marketing or technical support.
When such a party processes personal data on our behalf, we make data protection agreements where necessary and enter into a processing agreement.
Shopify and International Data Processing
Because our webshop uses Shopify, personal data may be processed by Shopify and by parties that Shopify engages for its services.
Shopify indicates that personal data of European customers is stored in Europe, but that international transfers may also take place for certain processing operations. Shopify uses the legal mechanisms available for this purpose, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) where required.
We use Shopify in accordance with the settings and services that we have configured within Shopify. For more information, please refer to Shopify's Privacy Policy and Data Processing Addendum.
Cookies and similar techniques
Our webshop uses cookies and similar techniques.
Cookies may be necessary for the functioning of the webshop, for example for:
· the shopping basket;
· the checkout;
· remembering certain settings;
· security;
· the technical functioning of Shopify.
In addition, we may use cookies or similar techniques for statistics, analysis, marketing or personalized content, for example. Insofar as permission is required, we will only place these cookies after you have given permission.
You can set your preferences via our cookie banner and, where applicable, change or withdraw your consent later. Cookie Policy
COOKIE POLICY
To offer you the best experience on our webshop and to ensure that our Greek fresh products can be ordered smoothly, we use cookies. In this policy, we explain what cookies are, which cookies we use and how you can manage your preferences.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer, tablet or smartphone by a website when you visit our webshop. This keeps track of information about your website visit, so that the website works properly next time or remembers your settings.
What cookies do we use?
Our webshop runs on the Shopify platform. We divide the cookies we use into four categories (as can also be seen in our cookie banner):
- Required cookies (Functional): These cookies are strictly necessary for the webshop to work. For example, they ensure that products remain in your shopping cart while you continue shopping, and that you can pay safely. No prior permission is required for this.
- Personalization cookies: These cookies remember your preferences, such as your language setting or login details, so you don't have to set this again every time you visit.
- Analysis cookies: We want our webshop to be as user-friendly as possible. With these cookies (e.g. via Google Analytics) we anonymously measure how visitors use our site, which Greek specialties are most popular and where we can improve the website.
- Marketing cookies: These cookies are placed by us and by external partners (such as Shopify, Meta or Google). They keep track of your surfing behavior in order to be able to show you relevant advertisements and offers on other websites and social media.
What technique do we use?
Because our webshop is built on Shopify's reliable platform, a number of standard cookies are automatically placed that are necessary for the shopping cart and checkout process to work securely, as well as to keep anonymous visitor statistics.
How can I manage or delete cookies?
You can change your cookie preferences at any time via the cookie banner on our website. In addition, you can manually delete cookies that have already been placed or block the placing of cookies completely via the settings of your internet browser (such as Chrome, Safari or Firefox). Please note: if you block functional cookies, the ordering process in our webshop may no longer work optimally.
Contact and privacy
For more information about how we handle your data, please refer to our privacy policy. Do you have specific questions about our cookie policy? Please feel free to contact us at webshop@ambelos.nl.
How long do we keep your personal data?
We do not store personal data longer than necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, unless we are legally obliged to keep data for a longer period. Different data may be subject to different retention periods. For example, data that is part of our administration can be stored for the legally prescribed tax retention period.
We can also store data relating to an order for as long as this is necessary for the execution of the agreement, the handling of any complaints, returns or disputes and for compliance with legal obligations.
We will retain data that we process solely on the basis of consent for as long as the consent is valid, unless there is another legal basis for further storage.
When the retention period has expired, we delete the personal data or make it anonymous, unless we are required to keep the data longer due to a legal obligation.
Security of personal data
We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against loss, unauthorized access, misuse, alteration or other forms of unlawful processing.
In doing so, we make use of Shopify's security capabilities and the security measures of the service providers we engage.
However, no system can guarantee complete security. If a data breach occurs despite our security measures, we act in accordance with the applicable legal obligations.
Your privacy rights
You have several rights under the GDPR. Under the terms of the GDPR, you have the right to:
· request access to the personal data that we process about you;
· have inaccurate personal data corrected;
· have personal data deleted;
· restrict the processing of personal data;
· object to certain processing operations;
· receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and have this data transferred to another organisation, where the right to data portability applies;
· withdraw a previously given consent.
You can submit a request via: webshop@ambelos.nl. We may ask for sufficient information to verify your identity when requesting access or other privacy rights. We do this to prevent personal data from being provided to the wrong person.
In principle, we will respond to your request within one month. In certain situations, this period may be extended in accordance with the GDPR.
Objection to direct marketing
You can always object to the use of your personal data for direct marketing. If you object to direct marketing, we will stop using your personal data for this purpose. For newsletters, you can also unsubscribe directly via the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the relevant email.
Automated decision-making and profiling
We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal effects concerning you or otherwise significantly affect you, unless this is permitted by law and the applicable conditions are met.
Shopify, a payment provider, or another service provider may use automated fraud detection or similar profiling.
Children
Our webshop is not specifically aimed at children. We do not intend to knowingly collect personal information from children without a parent or guardian's consent when such consent is required by law. If you believe that we have collected personal data from a child without the required consent, you can contact us at webshop@ambelos.nl.
Complaints about the processing of personal data
Do you have a complaint about the way we handle your personal data? Please contact us first at: info@ambelos.nl. You also have the right to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority. More information about this can be found on the website of the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
Changes to this Privacy Statement
We may change this privacy statement from time to time, for example when our webshop, services or applicable law changes. The most up-to-date version is always on our website.
If a change has material consequences for the way in which we process your personal data, we will inform you when we are legally obliged to do so.
